Tabernacle Baptist Church works to provide a safe environment where youth can explore the questions of life. Youth are strongly encouraged to work to develop a spiritual dimension of life as they are developing academically, emotionally and physically. Youth frequently gather in the Youth Lounge to watch movies, play video games, pool or ping pong. Wednesday evenings we gather for a community meal and Bible study. Topics have included a study of the Gospel of Mark, a survey of Christian “saints,” and several other studies. The Youth at Tabernacle participate in state-wide retreats and mission projects through the Virginia Baptist Mission Board, and in national retreats and projects through the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship.
Sunday Morning, 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. Sunday School
Youth are at a pivotal time in their lives where they are searching for identity. They are searching for their personal identity, their familial identity, and their Christian identity. Each week the youth at Tabernacle gather together in hopes of finding a piece of that identity. Youth Sunday School is a place where our youth can pray for each other, worship God together through song, and learn the stories of the Bible. We hope to encourage strong personal as well as corporate faith through discussion and reflection in art, music, and writing and to have a lot of fun together as well!
Youth Sunday School is geared for students, grades 6 through 12. We base our Bible study on lectionary passages and follow the church year, which helps to bind us with other Christians all over the world/
Wednesdays, 5:45 – 7:30 p.m.
Fellowship Meal, 5:45 – 6:30 p.m. (weekly on Wednesday Nights)
Fellowship is one of the core values of the Tabernacle Baptist Church. Please join the Tabernacle Baptist Church family for a simple supper each Wednesday evening between the children’s and youth homework time and our Wednesday evening classes. This community meal will allow time for both children and adults to get to know one another while they share in food and fellowship.
The suggested donation for the meal covers the cost of the food that is served. Volunteers from the church family lovingly prepare dinner each Wednesday. The suggested donation is $5.00 per adult, and $3 for students of any age. Please never allow the suggested donation for the food prevent you from coming and enjoying this fellowship meal.
Youth “D” Groups, 6:30-7:30 p.m.
On Wednesday nights, our youth spend time in discipleship, which is where our “D Groups” come from. Using a curriculum that follows the narrative lectionary, students spend time in scripture, discussing the passage for the upcoming week and engaging in activities that relate to the lesson. Groups are divided between middle school and high school.
