Youth Ministry

Tabernacle Baptist Church works to provide a safe environment where youth can explore the questions of life. Youth are strongly encouraged to work to develop a spiritual dimension of life as they are developing academically, emotionally and physically. Youth frequently gather in the Youth Lounge to watch movies, play video games, pool or ping pong. Wednesday evenings we gather for a community meal and Bible study. Topics have included a study of the Gospel of Mark, a survey of Christian “saints,” and several other studies. The Youth at Tabernacle participate in state-wide retreats and mission projects through the Virginia Baptist Mission Board, and in national retreats and projects through the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship.

Colonial Connection

The summer activities at Colonial Apartments are in full swing as the children and youth are going to summer school to increase their use and understanding of English. On Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1:00 to 3:00, the children and youth are playing word games, reading books and expanding the use of vocabulary. As the students work on their English relationships are being formed. If you have interest in forming deeper relationships with the Karen families, take advantage of this great opportunity to help with their use of English by meeting at the Colonial Apartments (5500 Pony Farm Drive, Richmond, VA 23227). We will meet at the main entrance to the apartment complex.

We need volunteers willing to sit and help children learn to read. If you have any additional questions please speak to the staff or e-mail Eric Hasha. Thank you for your support of the youth/children in the church. We look forward to seeing what God does through this ministry this summer and how it will foster growth for the future.
