Glimpses of Faith, Stories of Faith: Voices that have Influenced our Christian Life
January 8 – April 1, 9:30-10:30 a.m.
“We read to know that we are not alone.” – CS Lewis
For centuries, men and women have written books, sermons, and speeches inspired by their faith. Their stories of faith inspire our own as we realize that we are not alone; we have the same questions, the same hopes and dreams, and the same fears as many others. Join us for a 13-week study on Sunday mornings as we explore the writings, and the stories behind them, of Walter Brueggemann, CS Lewis, Henri Nouwen, Clarence Jordan, and Barbara Brown Taylor, to name just a few.

“Your People Shall Be My People”: The Book of Ruth
January 8 – January 29, 9:30-10:30 a.m
Old testament scholar Ellen Davis calls the book of Ruth “the still, small voice in the Canon.” Wedged between stories of judges and kings, the book of Ruth tells the story of quite ordinary people. It is a story about loss, grief, kindness, devotion, and redemption. Their story is our story, their people, our people.
Join us in a four week study of this beloved book as our lives enjoin with Ruth, Naomi, Orpah, and Boaz, and as we come to view their story as our own.

“Questionable” Women Encountered by Jesus
January 11 – February 8, 6:30-7:30 p.m.
One suffering from a serious bleeding disorder; another wasting a precious bottle of perfume; another frantic over her missing child; another involved in a tangled marital history; yet another caught in the act of adultery: five women whose encounters with Jesus provoke a variety of deep social and moral questions. This lecture series will closely examine these women’s stories in the Gospels, with an eye to challenging conventional stereotypes and misconceptions about both Jesus and women in his society.
Led by Dr. Scott Spencer. Contact Megan@tbcrichmond.org for more information.
